me and big fish lite line decided to go up to our secret lake this afternoon. We had to be back around 7:00 so we decided just to go chasin mondo perch and leave the big cutts for next time as they don't usually bite in the afternoon to evening time. We pushed the canoe up the 1 mile trail and were ready to go. First we fished with crappie jigs and worms, catching two nice sized perch including a 11incher hooked by lite line. Then we went in and caught a bunch of little bullhead sculpin and using bobbers, fished them about 10 ft under surface. We really started nailing them after that. We ended up with 12 nice perch all over 8 inches in about 2 hours. Not to mention the weather was great too! The pictures are of one of the big ones as well as the fish I brought home. hope to go back soon! :)

Quick question, I was told that you aren't able to use live bait in Washington?? because, I wanted to try small perch for bass..other than that, nice catch!

Hey guys, first to daily fisherman, no there is no crappie in this lake so i have never caught any. To jens, it depends what you are fishing for, a least that is my understanding, for perch and maybe bass using bait is fine. Check regs though.

Hey physher92. you might want to double check, but from what I was told earlier from WDFW, in the state of WA using live bait period is against regs...let me know if you find anything different.

well they actually were half dead, half alive, but If that was WDFW told you then there right. however, then why can you use worms. There alive and I no thats not illegal.

I know I know..something about live fish I guess...I don't know why but sure would makes sense if it is from the same place you caught it (bait) you should be able to use it as bait..still nice perch! I'd call the WDFW so they can clear up the gray area...all I know is you aren't supposed to use live bait..but, if it is dead you can use it??? I am not trying to sound like a hater, or some jerk..just lookin out.

Ok, here is what an agent sent me.......hope this helps-

"Under Statewide General Rules-Harvest and Possession Rules, as listed on page
31 of the regulation pamphlet, you may not possess or use live fish for
gamefish bait. You may harvest smaller fish, kill them, and use them as bait
as long as the fish meets the minimum size for retention of that species. Any
fish you catch and use as bait still counts toward your daily limit for that
species."

hay physher92 have you ever taken a depth finder up there? If its the same place im thinking its quite a suprise. I have found 130 ft. deep. Biggest perch being 14.5 in. Biggest cutt 24 in. What a neat secret spot even catching those sculpin is fun. I'll have to post a secret lk. post with pic of those fish. Good luck guys.
