Posting this in the Secret Lake section, coz this lake isn't listed in the Index. This particular Fish Lake is just South of Rimrock.

Arrived about 10:30. Fish is set back off the road about 1/4 mile. Little more than a pond really, but I wanted to try it, because I had read it's stocked with Twin Lakes cutts, a trout I've never caught. It is, but it's also stocked with Eastern Brook .

I used my old standby, inflated worm on an 18" leader. Quickly found out that for such a small waterbody, Fish is surprisingly deep. The first few fish I caught were little brookies, all of them released. It wasn't until about noontime that I caught my first cutt. Just a little guy, but WHOA, what a pretty fish! Neon undersides, and a jaw slash so bright, I thought at first that I had gill hooked him. Pretties trout I've seen in a long time.

All in all took home two cutts and one brook that was too badly injured to let go. I probably won't be returning to Fish lake any time, but one of these days, I'm just gonna have to head out to Eastern Washington, and hit one of the lakes that has larger versions of these cutts.

And I will also be exploring some of the other Yakima Valley lakes in the not-too-distant future.

It's tough to find,

Go south of Rimrock on FR 1203 past the South Fork campground, for about a mile. As you come out of the turns, look left for a primitive parking area, with a couple of firepits. ( If you come to the junction with FR 550, you've gone too far. ) The lake is back behind there, about a 1/4 mile walk along the trail leading from the parking place.. You don't want the pond close to the road, but the second one, further back, with the dead trees poking thru the water, Also you need to fish where the creek comes into the lake on the north side...too weedy elsewhere.

It can get a bit muddy walking in, and you'll have to cross Fish Creek at least once

If I were going to go back there, I might try flies with a casting bubble this time. I got quite a few bites on worms as I was reeling in, right close to shore.

Hope that helps Tight lines to ya.

Thanks alot for the detailed directions...I'm for sure going to Lost Lake and Leech Lake. I am going to try and find Fish Lake and fish that, all I fish with up there is clear bobber and worms (except Leech Lake of Course). It's so beautiful around that area its hard to just stay in one spot for me, I got to hit them all! I'll let you know how it goes!
