We arrived at the lake at about 7 pm sat night and were looking for some leech action. Tied on a #10 black bunny leech and headed out. The water level has dropped about 1.5 feet since spring. After being high centered in our pontoon boats we finally got to the main part of the lake. I got my 1st and only fish of the night after about 10 minutes. Nothing after that for 3 hours. We headed in for the night.
Next morning we were on the water by 8am and the bows were everywhere.
Sight fishing with dragon nymphs and woolybuggers was great. Only 1 fish under 20" and that was a nice little 16" brown. All in all a great day. I caught and released 10 fish, lost probably another 10 due to flies breaking off on hookup or LDR's. Monday was a different day as only 1 fish caught and the dragons flies were laying there eggs. Now this was a sight to see as soon as their tails hit the water you could count to 5 and BAM the dragon was gone. The trout were coming out of the water 2-3 feet to take the dragons out of the air. Frustrating but awesome to watch. We gave up at about 12 pm and heading back to Seattle. This was the first trip of the fall season and I know it will only get better.
