Today was one of those classic wintery days where the flows fell right into place, cold, rainy and fish biting, exactly what we anglers battle these conditionsfor. I started drifting bait and didn't get touched so I switched over to spoons and spinners for a while and still didn't get touched and I could see fish holding on the edge of the pool I was fishing, still no luck. THEN I switched to the twitching jig and got hammered on my third cast, but didn't stick. Got picked up again and it didn't stick. Two casts or so later and it was game on! Hammered while sinking the jig and it started rolling right away. Two or three leaps and I landed a nice wild hen around 6 lbs. Released her and fished on. ABout 30 minutes later hooked into a tank right off the bank and it took off! Peeling to the middle of the pool and rolled. A few leaps then it went into a classic death roll and tangled all the way into my braid main line. Landed the 32 inch 10lb. Hatchery buck and had my limit. Gotta get em when the getting is good!
