Another great day on the water. Another 15 minute drive outsude our bacj door with our pontoon boat in tow. Any family thinking about a pontoon boat for fishing is on the right track. We fish as a family and this has been a great fishing season.
We have a seasons worth of smoked kokanee put away, and now we are learning to catch walleye. Have always done very well bass fishing the Okanagan river but never really fished for walleye ever. This is new to us. We are getting to be a well oiled freezer filling kokanee machine. Now we are trying to figure out these Tasty walleye.
We launched at the monse bridge. Wont do that again. Go to the launch just upstream of the mouth of the river. The monse launch is too shallow.
We trolled bottom bouncers with slow death night crawler gold smile blade black scales pattern by Mack's. Guess I like their products. I have been using them since I was a kid. At least 20 years.
We did catch and released a bunch of fish today, including a nice 4 lbs smallmouth. kept one really nice 18" walleye our oldest boy pulled in. During the action my knee got layed open on a metal snag on a hinge I didn't even realize it till we had the fish put on ice. Keep super glue in your first aid kit. After the first aid kit got put back away and the snag was eliminated from the boat. We pulled over to BBQ on the shore below 97 bridge. Then got back to fishing.
All in all we caught fish, and had a blast. Can't wait to get over to banks for some walleye.
