My friend says he read a report the catfish were active at the mouth of the Walla Walla river, so we went down. Only caught 1 fish in the 3 1/2 hours we fished, but it was an 8 lb catfish. Made for some nice filets. Met a fellow angler who educated me on the 2-pole rule. I did not know you can only use 2 poles on lakes. You cannot use 2 poles on rivers. INSANE!!!!!!

He had been fined $125 for using 2 poles on river.

8 Lb, that's great. Someday I should go cat fishing again, been many, many, years. Yes they taste great!

I haven't been catfishing since I was a kid in the army stationed on the james river.I was stationed on a 290 foot freight ship.I had a net with a 16 foot handle and a coleman stove in my room.If I was hungry I'd drop a line out my porthole and get all the catfish and croaker my heart could desire.......aaah to be young and stupid again. My biggest was 45 lbs.(blue channel). thanks for the memory, good luck next trip.

Two pole rule can apply on a river with a special rule. The Columbia River system will often allow 2 poles during the salmon season. But check the regs! Salt water is also a no go with the 2 pole endorsement.
