Nice March morning -- No rain, no wind. Son Donald and I launched his bass boat onto Long Lake about 10:30 AM. Lake flat as a mirror. We started casting jigs and Spinner baits. Fished about an hour before first strike. Don hooked and landed a beautiful 4 pound 8 ounce, 19 1/2 inch bass. We put her in the live well for a brief rest as we readied the scale and camera. After being weighed, measured and posing for a very brief photo session, she was thanked for the memories and gently released near the spot she was hooked. Water temp. was 48 degrees and the pads were just starting to show. Red winged blackbirds entertained with their delightful songs as we fished. This is a very good early season bass lake. Please practice catch and release on this lake to insure great bass fishing into the future.
