My son recently got back from college and was wanting to get some fishing in on his days off. Unfortunately, most of the rivers have been blown out, so we were forced to drive farther for some steelhead. We started fishing at 8AM. About a half-hour in, I hooked a fish, but it broke everything off. I retied, and shortly after that, another fish hammered my bait. I must have fought that for 5 minutes, before it broke my leader off. I moved up to where my son was fishing, and he told me that he had a few take downs and no commitment. People started to clear out, and he went to try another hole. I took over his spot. I hooked into another fish, and finally landed it. Soon after, I see that my son was fighting a fish, but as I started walk and go help him, the fish broke his leader. A little while later, he went back down to the spot I fished, when we got there, and he ended up hooking two more, but couldn't bring them in. It was a good day of fishing for his first time out there and only my second time on the river.
