Well, this Coho season has so far turned out to be quite a nice one for me. Today I managed to get my first silver out of the Wallace, after having got my first silver out of the Stilly last week and my first silver out of the Sno the week before that. In years past I had never been able to catch a silver out of the north sound rivers closest to me, but this year I have broken the curse on three of them already, with only the Sky still waiting to provide me with my "last first" Coho.

Anyway, I started up at the hatchery at noon and moved my way downstream towards the hwy 2 bridge, twitching jigs and throwing spinners as I went. At one particular hole I knew there were fish around, however, I couldn't get them to hit my hand tied purple rabbit fur jig, despite working the water thoroughly. Deciding to change it up to the pattern that I have been doing so well with down on the Sky recently, I switched over to a predominantly pink rabbit fur jig. Within about 3 casts with the new jig I had a chrome bright hatchery hen decide that my jig was just too good looking to resist. She nailed it as I twitched along the bottom up and out of the slot she was holding in. I was quite surprised at how bright she was, not a hint of color and she still had most of her mirror scales. Weighing in at 4# she certainly wasn't the biggest Coho I have ever caught, but I'm definitely not complaining!

Tight lines!

These posts are open invites to snaggers.

Dude, calm down dada unit. As soon as they opened the Wallace it was an invitation to snaggers. It's doesn't take a rocket scientist to learn when rivers open. On a positive note, nice fish and thanks for sharing Alex. Where there is water and fish, anglers will be there regardless. My favorite hole on the Sky was discovered and I hiked 30min to get to it and never posted a single report about where it was.

How a person can equate a fishing report with an open invitation to snag is a mystery to me and an example of flawed thought process.
