Giving this a 3 star day despite only catching 1 fish since the tide conditions were not ideal. Got to the river at 7am and flung a purple and pink marabou jig with a bit of shrimp on the hook for an hour with no luck. The tide was super high and the water moving very fast, and not a fish to be seen jumping. Around 8am fish started to jump a bit. I switched to a green marabou and lost it on a snag. Then I put on a black and purple jig and promptly threw it right into a tree like a moron and snapped it off. After losing two expensive jigs in 5 minutes and the conditions, my hopes of catching a fish were not very high, so I just tied on a pink humpy jig with some shrimp on the hook hoping to catch a late humpy. First cast and wham, a 15 inch silver jack! Threw the humpy jig for another 30 minutes with no luck. Seems like adding shrimp to the hook is making the difference for me this week. The coho can't resist that delicious Kroger branded shrimp! Also, if I hadn't lost my purple jig in a tree I never would have even tried the humpy jig. Just goes to show you, fishing is 50% skill, 50% dumb luck.
