Wow!
Limited in thirty minutes and even lost three at the boat during that time. Almost every cast was a hook up. Spent more time putting the boat in the water and boating up river than fishing. Drift fished the shorline above town, up river from the big beach where everyone plunks. Up around a couple bends. Saw a couple guys catching fish but not many. I was actually nervous because everyone said they weren't doing very well.
A couple of younger guys, around my age, walked to the shorline where I was fishing and watched me pull all my fish in that short time. They asked me what I was using and I told them dicknites with a 1/2oz dropper. At the time they were using squid jigs. They said they didn't have anything like that so I boated over gave them two brand new, in the package, dicknites and a couple of weights. I made them promise they would have the same respect I gave them to others if they were in a similar situation. It's about the good time, not the limit. They did and we chatted a bit, then I headed back to the launch.
Rated a 5 because I had an absolute blast. It was super fun and I can't wait to get back on the water again. I may take the father in law this weekend.
We have been fishing the snohomish the last week and a half, doing really well. I was also afraid to leave that and go the the Skagit. Glad I did because the people were nicer, wasn't so crowded, and no boats ripping by me at 30 miles an hour. I get that it may throw off less of a wake on plane but it still makes you look like a jerk when you do it. Just slow down and things are cool. Some guys on the other hand I saw throwing rocks at the boaters hauling butt up the snohomish. That's not cool either. Everyone is out for the same reason. To have some fun I hope. Please try to chill and enjoy the time and let some of the annoying stuff go.
