Wow, what a difference a high tide makes!! Went to Codiga Park again tonight, showed up about an hour after high tide and the entire beach was flooded. Lots of jumpers in the deeper channel, but alas no waders in the car tonight so I packed up and went to another spot where I at least stood a chance to cast out fat enough.

Ended up hooking a buck and got him to the base of the grassy cliff i was perched on top of. Thankfully I brought the net and laying down I was just able to coax him inside. No chrome left but he still had a bunch of sealice and no signs of a hump, so I decided he was smoker worthy and I punched him. Curious how long lice stay when they hit the fresh water?

a common beleif, is that fresh water causes fish to darken. not so. its simply "TIME", for threm to change. if fish are late in the run, they are humped up before they enter the river, and still have sea lice. lice are an indication, that they just left the salt. not of how fresh they really are. i have never been to the bank areas of the duamish. only twice in my boat, that i laucned at 1st ave. that was nuts. one couple, trolling near the launch, with downriggers and herrig, had their eight chrome coho. right off the bottom. and everybody else, was up river a bit, chaseing the slime balls.

thanks Doc, it's pretty cool to see the changes these little guys go through during the spawn. Of the 6 I've caught so far, this one was the only one that showed signs that change, it is a comin. No scales & smooth skin. Mouth normal, and he still had lice. The meat was still nice and pink, not the pale cream color that will come later. The rest I've hooked in the Duawamish were all very nice looking with tons of scales, lice, etc. and still had that ocean going look. I'm guessing this is all coming to an end shortly and I'll start looking for silvers.
