So after skunking on the duwamish river and loosing a ton of expensive gear, i figure id go a more economical route and get a limit of pinks. A 6mm bead some yarn and a 2/0 matzuo hook gets the job done. Pair it with a 12 foot leader works well. Just bought a new 10 foot x11 so casting was a breeze. Started fishing around 6am. Had my limit by 8. I must of hooked 30 pinks. Kept the 4 that i was able to hook correctly. The rest had to go. I had 3 and tried for a king. But i was not able to get mine. Everyone up and down river were hooking up with pinks. Kind of a scary moment today when some guys above me were yelling at each other.

You call that the leader of death. Ok it may have not been that long.

Seriously? 12ft? if it's a joke it's one that doesn't go over well on this site.

The reason why only four were hooked in the mouth out of 30 is because of the 12 fort leader. Long leader = snagging. Stick with 3-4.5 feet of leader you'll hook every fish in the mouth and you'll actually have a shot at hooking cohos and kings. Tight lines and dry waders.

People out there use upwards of 15 ft leaders. If i can't cast it i wont use it.

snagging intentionally is right up there with animal abuse but i dont think thats the case here. i realize you were most likely incidentally snagging them with the false idea that you need a 12' leader, but dont you think them fish deserve to be handled a little better? if i snag more than 1 fish on accident, i change my method to sonething less snaggy, its the ethical thing to do. use a 2'-5' leader, and your snag ratio will go WAY down, and your correct ratio will probably stay the same, but you wont be harming the fish either and still catch your limit. try usung scent to up your catch rate instead.
thanks for the report good luck.
