Fished with my dad today. We fished around freeman road and got nothing for 2 hours. One side of the river was on fire the whole 2 hours. So we start thinking outside the box.. The water is shallow over here lets walk a bit down the river. All of a sudden we start catching pinks like crazy. If you want fish you need to be in waist deep water not shallow water because the fish swim right past the shallow water and they stay around in deeper waters. So after wasting 2 hours with my dad we walked down the river where the water was waist deep. Right off the bat we start catching pinks. Dad landed one he lost about 8. We forgot our net at home because we werent expecting any fish at all. I hooked around 6-7 pinks allllll of them I lost because we didnt have a net. Great fishing in the Puyallup just dont fish in shallow water.

Good tip young blood. Also remember to make a couple casts parallel to the bank if you got room to work in that waist deep water. Keeping your presentation in that hot zone longer will yield even more action. Pink's are in just about everywhere right now..cheeyouuu.

been fishing this river for thirty years. used to be, only a few locals. then one year, a limp wrist liberal new station showed pinks jumping everywhere down near 11th street. been crowded ever since. anyway. about the 17th of august, it will light up like a firecracker. and, you get a leg massage, while drift fishing. all the pinks. typical 2.5 hours, will yield about 50 hoookups, for me. 95% in the mouth. i learned if to avoid snaggeing them, reel in slow, at first. then faster. nisqually, supposed to get more pinks then the puyallup, this year. very odd. its the most southern river for them. the more northern rivers used to be. no more. moving south. remember. no leaders are allowed, longer than four ft. too many landed so. leader rule is on the puyallup, nisqually, and skokomish. all tribal rivers........hmmm.
