Fished the Cowlitz river today with two clients husband a wife team from Oregon. The water was on the rise over the past two days it has gone from 3,000 to 6,000 cfs which brought in some fresh fish and also made conditions tough from all the debris floating down the river. Started out fishing divers and bait but soon found out that was not going to work due to all the stuff catching on our divers and bait.
We switched to side drifting eggs and it wasn't long before we were hooked up with a hot summer run steelhead of around 9 pounds. The bite stayed good until around 1030 or 1100 and the temp outside rose to 90 degrees. We boated 5 fish and lost a few others. All in all a great morning and time to find some shade to clean our catch!
Water temp 53 -55 by 11am visibility was 5 feet
