Went out today to my favorite stretch of the south fork Snoqualmie and it was awesome. Waded about a mile and half and caught 26 trout and 1 whitefish with a dozen or so that came unbuttoned. All caught on my favorite spinner, #2 copper blue fox vibrax. Had a nice surprise on this trip that I was not expecting at all. I have been fishing this stretch for about 8 years now and like to think I have it dialed in but today caught one of the largest trout I have ever caught in western Washington inland rivers. 18" rainbow that must have weighed 3lbs(picture doesn't do it justice but I measured it). Over the years I have caught several 16" cutthroat on this stretch but never seen a fish to this magnitude in any of the Snoqualmie forks. Fought like a steelhead and jumped 3 times about 2 feet out of the water and took drag out. Was the only hole I didn't see multiple fish and now I know why. He claimed it. Anyways took a quick pic and sent him on his way to grow bigger. Fish averaged 8-12" with several around 14". Saw one more large fish that looked to be about 16". Chased my spinner a couple of times from underneath a log but never fully committed. Ran into a couple elk on the river which is always nice. Cow and a calf that just watched me from about 50 yards as I worked my way back down the river. Amazing how much the river changes every year. Ran into a huge log jam, one of the biggest I have ever seen and a couple places I was forced to wade up to my chest to get to the other side of the river and I am 6'6. Goes to show you that anything can be lying in wait at the bottom of a river even as small as the south fork. Back to chasing steelhead tomorrow.

I've fished the north, middle, and south forks for over 10 years and have never caught anything over 10". Where on the south fork is this!?! Thanks!

Same here. I've fished the South Fork for some years now, I've eve done bush whacking just to get down to the river. But I've never seen anything bigger than 8" or 9", and only a handful fish a day.

Mr. tframe, with respect, are we talking about the same river? I've seen your reports on Middle and South Forks, you seem to be able to consistently catch couple dozens of fish a day of size 12"-18", that's really amazing! Do you mind sharing your fishing holes?

Only thing I am willing to say is that the lower parts of all three forks have the biggest fish but accessing can be a problem due to private land.
