To avoid the pleasure boaters out on all the lakes we thought we'd give the mighty PO river a go, and was a great choice! Only two trailers at the Cusick launch when we arrived. Launched about 10:00 am and went right towards Usk. Water temps were in the low to mid 60's so that was a good sign, started tossing plastics, spinner baits and swim baits along the inner and outer weed lines and the wife picked up one smally. After a nice lunch under the Usk bridge we headed to Davis slough and picked up 5 largies. The slough was full of weeds and water temp was 75 degrees! Headed down to bunny slough but it was too weeded so up to Campbell slough we went which is where we should have went in the first place! Stayed in there for about 4 hours and picked up I'd say about 20-25 Largies! Nothing over 3.5 lbs but it was a blast! Been awhile since we've had a day like that, reminded me of the 19 Pike day we had in there a few years ago. Great to see the bass population flourishing there again!

Nice! The mighty Pend Oreille is my all time favorite Bass fishery. Haven't fished it in a few years but I'm gonna find a way this year. My PB Largemouth came outta here too:) Glad you guys whacked em & had a good time. It's good to know the Bass didn't get too decimated by the Calispell's gill nets awhile back.

Yep Bill, I'm glad to see the bass population coming back too. Last Fall we hammered the bass all around that island south of riverbend, the smallies were in there real heavy with an occasional largie. @ chris adams-when you say "where is this" what location are you referring too?

Planning a fishing trip with my son for later this summer and would like to try the Pend Orielle River. Can you recommend a good place to camp with a boat launch. Really enjoy your posts of Pike and Bass. Used to go to Minnesota as a kid and catch the same...good times!

@ bothellbassman-I'd recommend the Panhandle state park on east side of the river accross from the outpost, it's right along the river. You'll have to go accross the bridge at Usk to get to it. @ Buc, didn't see any nets, my past run in's with the WDFW folks were in early spring (march) is when they had put them out in the past. I'm thinking if they did it this spring they probably did Tacoma and Trimble, due to the lack of fish in there. Calispel and Davis were productive. Honeslty, I have not seen any Pike not only in the sloughs and entrances to the sloughs but not even on the main parts of the river weed lines...
