With this nice weather decided to hit the Snoqualmie for some catch and release trout fishing. Started at about 10 and waded about a mile and half of my favorite section of the south fork. Water is still pretty cold but as the day went on it wasn't bad. Caught 17 cutthroat and 1 whitefish. Biggest was just under 15"(one in picture) but averaged 10-12". Its amazing how low the water is for this time of year. Water is as low as it is in August already. Should be a very interesting summer as far as water conditions are concerned. All fish were caught on blue fox vibrax #2 in copper and rainbow trout color and all coastal cutts. Lots of elk tracks and game trails but no elk this time. Usually I run into a few on the river which is always pretty cool. Back to the alpine lakes this week.

I grew up out there and still live in the area, great fishery for cutts and whitefish! We do have a lot of black bears out here but they are pretty shy when it comes to humans they most always run off when they see you. But....if there are cubs around best idea is to go the opposite direction as the sows will protect them. I used to hammer the cuts in all three forks of the Snoqualmie with a #0 or #1 gold or silver Mepps spinner. My favorite day on the South Fork was to start at Twin Falls by the trail and wade down to the bridge in down town North Bend. Makes for a great day and you catch a lot of fish! The rivers around here used to not open until the first week of June so make sure to read the Regs carefully. Nice Cutt!!!

That's some great info motley, thanks for sharing! I have heard of the great trout fishing on the South Fork but have never given it a shot simply due to lack of knowledge/no time/other fishing, etc. But now I may have to give it a go!
