Today I had two clients first time fishing for steelhead. Launched at Mission at 700 hrs and headed up river. Decided to put out a couple bait divers with sand shrimp and a 4.5 Mag lip plug on the 3rd rod, so I could explain what we were going to do today side drifting, pulling plugs, and divers.
It wasn't long before the center rod buckled over and we were in to our first steelhead of the day on the Mag lip.
After a decent battle and a very excited 11 year old boy we netted and boated his first ever steelhead!
We put in another pass without any results so off we went up river to start some side drifting with eggs on a 4' leader and a small pink corkie.
The day ended with us getting into 3 more fish and boating all but one of them.
So we went 3 for 4, not bad for a couple of rookies!
Good Job Scott and Payton!!
Weather- Overcast and sprinkles outside temp high 40's
