2/11/2015 6:11:00 PMThanks for the report. We are between runs and there are a lot of steelhead heading towards the Cowlitz. Try coming back in March it should be fishing very good then. Good Luck!
Rod
Floated from Blue Creek to Mission, Water was running high at about 13,000 CFS and dark. There has been a lot of rain over the past couple of days. Was really intending to go to the coast but the Hoh and Bogy were completely blown out. Fished hard for 5 hours using a Fly on a Switch Rod. No fish seen, no bumps, no hookups. There are only a couple of decent places to swing a fly on this section at that flow and hit them all. Temp was in the low 50's and rained hard most of the day.
I saw one gear boat land a 12 pounder and another Spey Fisherman land another. I also stopped by the Lost Creek fly shop and was fortunate to get some help from Mike on getting a shuttle. Recommend their place. He fishes the water most days and seems to know the Cowlitz.
Tight lines!
