After spending a few hours at Reiter Ponds, I decided to try the Wallace River again. (I had tried it earlier in the week with no luck.) When I got there at about 10am, the parking lot was packed. However, I was still able to secure a spot across from May creek. When I got there, a couple of guys were just leaving with 2 very large steelhead on a stringer. In hindsight, I should have hit Wallace at first light instead of going to Reiter first.
I fished across from May creek for about 30 minutes then moved downriver. After about an hour of trying multiple holes with not so much as a nibble, I decided to hang it up for the day. I tried multiple different color jigs - pink, white, nightmare - with and without sand shrimp scent but no luck.
I had fished the past two weeks (while on vacation) about 6 times with no luck. However, any day being outside is better than being stuck in an office even when not catching fish. I enjoyed the weather and talking to other anglers who, for the most part, were friendly (minus a few) even though most of the people I talked to were having the same luck (or lack thereof) that I was having.
