I went down Tuesday after work to try to get anything really. I got there at about 4, so there was only a little bit of time to fish. As usual I was at 116th st hole. I crossed the tail out (just barely) and walked up to fish the deep spot right across from where most people park. I fished for about a half hour or so then it was getting dark. I didn't get any bites or see any fish roll. There was one guy plunking eggs with no results as well.

On Wednesday it was the final day to see if I could find one more coho. I arrived at the river at about 3:00 and ran down to my favorite spot. I started with bobber/jig, but no takers. after a few minutes, I started twitching. I used purple/green/white first, but again no takers. Then I switched to white/pink/blue. On the first or second cast, I felt a swipe and miss so I knew there was one in there. Next cast, she hit the jig again. After a short fight I landed the silver. A hen about 4 or 5 pounds. I did a New Years eve dance, punched my card and kept fishing. I saw one fish rolling across the river but I couldn't get it to bite. I fished until about 5 or so. Only got the one fish.

It is closed now, but I always changed colors after a few casts and switch between bobber/jig or twitching because you just never know the fishes mood. As usual the white/pink blue reigns supreme again this year. I'm glad I tried that pattern! The top jig, the tail is rubber legs, but with always trying new things, I put a paddle tail on to see if it would make the jig vibrate. It did, and the fish still bit it. The paddle tail caught three total this year. The bottom one is a steelie color I have yet to try. If the steelhead will hit plugs and spoons, I bet they will hit jigs too. Really I "swing" my jigs like a spoon or spinner, but "twitching" is the popular term used.

I hope everyone had a good new year, the next time down to the Puyallup, there will be an invasion of pinks!
