Arrived at the Snoqualmie river around 8:00 am near where the Tokul creek forms. I have fished the Snoqualmie river before but this was my first time fishing this specific stretch of water on the Snoqualmie. When I first arrived I just walked around for a little while trying to find a good place to cast my line out. The water was running a little higher and much of the river was very fast but I eventually found one good pool to at least cast out my presentation in hopes of getting a bite from one of those elusive silver bullets. I was fishing with a bobber and jig and occasionally tipped it with roe. After fishing for a few hours and no bites I eventually left but I will be back next week and will try out some different rigs too. Maybe drift fishing with a spin n glow or corky and yarn with some shrimp or roe or maybe cast out a spoon or spinner. I am still on my quest to catch my first steelhead and I will never give up. That's all part of fishing. It takes patience and you just have to work at it. Try different things, go to new spots you've never been to before and work hard and you will be rewarded with success. Tight lines everyone and happy steelheading.

If you fish the creek, the trick is a short leader. I use rubber tube. Thread you Mainline through the rubber tube and ten you can then push a piece of pencil lead in the tube so that it slides. Tie you hook to the mainline using an egg loop so you can put yarn on the hook. This set will allow the weight to slide and it will help when you snag and you can also adjust your leader to whatever length you want. When drift fishing the creek this is effective in the creek.

Why does anyone bother to fish this river?

@snatchinglips I already know this rig, the drift fishing rig and use it time to time. I find it effective for coho but haven't caught any steelhead on it yet but am trying different rigs to see what works best for me. I am not a beginner fisherman at all but am a beginner steelheader but hooked into one this summer that I lost but I am progressing. And about Tokul creek, it's just my opinion but I just wouldn't fish it. I guess it's just part of personal preference and what feels most comfortable for you. I like to stick to the larger bodies of water with better pools where fish like to hold. The big eddy seems like a nice location though that I recently just discovered. It can get a little crowded but I am still scouting out new locations. That's what you have to do.
@thedrifter- the reason why people fish the Snoqualmie is because it has fish and can get good numbers of steelhead and if you take the time to figure out its secret you can find spots that are away from people and can hold many fish. You just need to put the time into it and you'll catch fish.
