So this is actually for the Queets but couldn't find it on here so here we go~ met my buddies in Amanda park around 5 pm Saturday and got our gear ready for our Sunday trip then took a drive up past Lake Quinault into the park and checked out the upper Quinault river. It was awesome as I had never been up there before but for Bruce this was his old stomping grounds so gave us a forest tour and made our way back the Salmon house for a nice dinner overlooking lake Quinault! Highly recommended with great food and service but we were treated with royalty as Bruce is a regular there! ha ha!

Woke up Sunday morning to pretty clear skies and mild temps~ our guide showed up at 6:30 and followed him up to the lower Queets where we put in below that last area you can take out if you float the upper river. He ran us down for our first float and every year we do this, Bruce always gets the 1st fish so I was determined to end his streak this year! But after a few casts he calmly says fish on! and it's a beast!!! After about a 30 minute battle that took us down river a bit, finally get it in the net and it's about a 30 lb bright king!! Man he did it again but we were jazzed as we knew this was going to be an epic day and it lived up to our expectations!! I won't go into too much detail because unless you are with a native American guide you can't fish this stretch of river but man it was fun! We get invited each year to go but missed last year due to an illness to our guide. All fish caught on #6 vibrax spinner ranging in colors but was interesting because we hooked them in faster water then I would have expected so learned something from that!

Got back to the launch at about 2pm and a ranger was just coming out on a rubber raft and asked how we did~ when he saw our bunch of fish said everyone up above was averaging about a fish per person which isn't too bad! You can see him in the back ground of the picture of me with a couple huge silvers~ total for the day:

9 silvers
2 kings
1 jack

and about 6 fish got off before we could get a net on them~ anyway looking forward to a steelhead trip he invited us on in January which we had planned a couple years ago but got snowed out!

Yea not allowed to mention here and you have to be invited anyway to get on with these guys. Fortunately the guys from our church have been fishing there for over 30 years so have connections!
