Time and Tide looked just about right for a morning of coho fishing. Hit the river at dawn to try out a new weapon in the chase of coho. A number of people were scattered about the river behind the Boeing building at the bridge. The number of fish moving upstream was very limited with a few jumpers here and there. The closer it got to low tide the more fish I saw but still a limited amount. I managed 1 nice cookie cutter coho on a drift rig with multi-colored corkie with before said secret weapon. And per tradition I always release my first fish of the given season which was hard. That one fish took about 2 hours to achieve and nothing else was had for another hour. The guys under the bridge drifting eggs all 6 of them got skunked. I did see 2 fish landed by two different sets of fisherman farther upstream. So 3 fish for about 16 guys in about 3 hours. I was troubled by the few people who's technique and lack of understanding of regulations leaves something to be desired. Such as the guy who swings for the fences at the end of every drift, so much so he actually fell over on one massive swing. And the guys keeping small undersized trout even when 5-8 pound salmon are to be had. At low tide what appeared to be an full or part of a abandoned net stuck on the large set of rocks just below the bridge could be seen.
