Hello WALAKES!

I fished the skok today. Not many fishermen about... probably the word got out that there aren't many fish in the river. What happened I wonder? Got to check how many the hatchery has.

I saw a couple fish taken from the guard rail hole. Big logjam area at hunter's farm was dead. A cool dude got into the water and recovered about 25 cannonballs from snags in the river. Good idea!

I think the netting of the mouth has definitely affected fishing for the worse on the skok. I've heard of some good days, but so far I've seen a whole mess of nothin.

Some people are more American than us and are allowed to take any and all they want.

ditto, dead dead dead, also, I thought Purdy creek - once the fish made it in you could not net there, but I saw the natives net across Purdy creek yesterday, I had never seen that before, 3 nets all the way across the area

The rules have changed on this awesome river..... but that has no bearing on the tribe's ability to take fish. The State unfortunately in it's infinite wisdom believes that when illegal activity is happening by tribal interest that they have no jurisdiction nor does the state care. It's too big a can of worms to try and maintain the law against the poor oppressed Native American. I don't know what to say other than it's very sad and pathetic to watch these beautiful animals and fish fall victim to illegal, unchecked greed and lawlessness. The Skokomish river is a disaster now. It kills me to see it like this. People just suck. BTW, Purdy Creek does get netted. The Tribal guys go have a beer and cork it off at the bridge all the time. More of your State $ and fishing opportunity being seized illegally by the better Americans.

So lame. Skok was one of the few that didn't get netted at the mouth.

In the interest of looking on the bright side, I wasn't able to get pictures of the netting at the mouth/purdy, but hopefully some people have taken pics. Any evidence would be good to have on hand if this is more a matter of illegal activity rather than badly negotiated crap. It's supposed to be 50/50 though, isn't it?

I'm probably not going back to the skok this year. So lame. I may start a skok post mortem thread since the main one got nuked.
