Took the evening off for some time on the Cedar. Began hitting my usual start point and landed a nice 12" rainbow in the first few casts. Things got slow so I began working my way downriver. On my way down I picked up a beautiful super spotted rainbow around 13" and chunky. Not much luck for a little while besides some smolt until I got to one of my favorite spots on the stretch. Began working the area from a far and worked closer to the seam. Boom! hooked into this first monster who ripped my line out right away. Beautiful fish (didn't fight very hard after a minute or two). Snapped a pic and let him go, he measured in at 24". After he swam out of my hands he hung around at my feet just chilling for a while. Beautiful thing to watch, before he headed back to his hole.
Headed back up river with no big hits. Decided to hit another great seem where a monster of my dreams spit my flies last time I was out (never got over it). Worked a few drifts down the seam. Called the "one last cast," and I made sure it was the best I had. Suddenly, my indicator shot up stream and dove. This second beauty put up an awesome fight. An arm tiring 7ish minute fight full of leaps and numerous runs as I battled to not let him get the upper hand. Finally got him into the net and the fly popped out before I even touched him. Best feeling there is for me is knowing I fought the fish well, without wearing him out to exhaustion. This colorful beauty measured in at 22-23". sent him on his way and headed home myself.
What started as a slow day turned out to be a day I will never forget!
