Great evening out on the river tonight! Lots of fish, beautiful sunset, and bumped into a couple nice people. Landed 6 trout tonight. 3 between 12" and 14". Nice chunky fish with lots of fight in them including some solid aerial flights. Also a couple 10" cuttbows to go along. But the icing on the cake tonight was a true 19" (measured it) beautiful rainbow that gave me a solid fight as he tried to glue to the bottom in a heavy current. All in all, great evening out on the river.

Please remember The Cedar is catch and release so treat the fish properly! Don't let them flop on the rocks. Keep them in the water as much as possible. And The Cedar is single barbless hooks! I've seen too many treble barbed hooks around the water! Respect this awesome river we have in our backyard!!!

Fish on,
Jordan Thompson

Speaking of which,...and this is just an attempt for me to learn something here, is it legal to fully remove a fish from the water if it is unlawful to retain that fish? Please clear this up for me, and big thanks in advance.

Handling rule can be found on page 10 of the regs. Applies to salmon, steelhead, and dolly varden/bull trout.

I still give him an "A" for effort. Advertising that it is catch and release.. asking people to be aware of that.
Nice pic. hands wet/dry, who knows. Still way above the people who poach and power bait places like that.

I was taught by all my guiding teachers on the Yakima to always fully submerge your hands in the water prior to handling a fish so that you do not take off any protective coating. I believe it is best that if you want to take a picture, keep the fish in the net, then dip hands, quick pic then back to their home they go.

Right on man.
It is what it is. We can all stand to learn I hope.

Are there some spots, parks, etc on the Cedar that might be good for kids who are learning to fly fish?
