This river is in exceptional condition with at least 4 feet of visibility and water temperatures at 54 degrees. The Bonneville Steelhead counts show over the 10 year average YTD. Opening day (yesterday) we swung two runs and hooked a chromer in the tail out of one of those runs that spit the hook on a breaching about face run. The fish ate a 'Klickitat Green Butt Marabou" Size 1 1/2 Alec Jackson, fished on a 2.9 Inch Per Second sinking leader. Today on the same run we hooked a big fish we never laid eyes on with a Green Butt Skunk on a size 1 1/2 Alec Jackson using a 5.9 Inch Per Second sinking leader. 4 hours fished in the past two days with two confirmed hook-ups on the swing...There are fish in the system. We have not used a nymph yet, but will report the results when we do.
