Ok, well first of all I would like to say I gave this day a 3 for three reasons. 1). i got to Reiters Ponds early enough to where I was the 5th car in line. 2). It's always a good day when you can be on the water fishing. 3). Even though I did not catch any steels, I saw 8 pulled in in the 3 1/2 hours I was there. From both sides of me. So I know they were I was at. I did everything I thought I could do. Played with the depth of my bobber, Used everything from prawns, eggs and scent and nothing at all, floated my line with a slip bobber and with out. Any of your season steelhead anglers please let me know what it is im doing worng. These fish are extreamly beautiful and I would love to feel the fight they put up. Well thanks for listening (reading) to me rant. Tight lines y'all.

I understand your frustration. Odds are that you're not doing anything wrong. Could be just luck of the draw. Most of us have been there before. I spent more fruitless trips than I can count trying to mimic what those around me were doing. They were catching fish and I wasn't. After I started catching them I couldn't tell you what changed....just getting your offering in front of the fish is half the battle. Good luck. Keep trying and it'll happen.

More time on the water, that's all, sometimes experience helps, but when fishing a hatchery terminal area with fish all around, that is not always the case-luck of the draw!

Yeah, don't worry. I got the X factor so far this year also. I have hooked a few, but getting them to shore has been another thing. Same with the silver run this past year. Get them close to the boat, but not on the boat. It's just a phase.

This winter run has been the slowest I have ever seen. There is a lot of seasoned veterans not catching either the last 6 times I have gone I have been 2/3.
