The river is closing in a couple days so I figured I better get down there while I could. I fished yesterday (Saturday) from 1130 until 130. There was so many people that I wasn't expecting much. I fished through the hole a few times and was getting ready to leave, I got a bite. Unfortunately I lost it after a couple minutes. It sat out in the middle and didn't really move kinda like chum do. I saw some flashing but not a solid I.D.
So, this morning, I arrived at about 8. When I was heading to my hole I saw 3 other guys walking in. Luckily, they stayed up high in the hole. On about my 3 cast I had the hardest bite of the year. The fish almost took my pole out of my hand! It was a buck coho about 5 lbs. When I was punching the fish and taking pictures, a guy I know showed up so I just talked to him for a while then left. I saw a couple chum roll when I was talking to him, so they must still be in there. I never did catch a chum this year.
I was parked at 116th st hole, but I always walk up or down the river. It was a good year for me, I can't wait until next year. I will probably fish the carbon and upper Puyallup in the next couple weeks before they close.
