i wish i felt guilty with 2 good days of fishing but NOPE! dang it feels good to walk out with fish for 2 days in a row. fished again upstream of hwy 18. last car into the parking lot. shared a space with the porta potty even! rolled in about 10 since yesterday i froze early on. beautiful day with the sun shining bright. work my way into one of the preferred holes and set up shop. morning started off slow even though a couple other guys landed some fish. then it was my turn. bobber down, fish on. play with a chum for a bit then boom, he somehow spits the hook even when there was good tension on the line. after a while another fish hooks on. had fun playin with it while i brought it upstream. get it in close and into the net. what do you know, it looks a lot like that "steelhead" i had released 3 weeks ago then was told it was a silver. oh yeah, a late chrome silver about 7-8 lbs. continue about my day while others are having mixed results. fish on again. this one feels much smaller. same thing as previous fish. get it in the net and its another silver, a small jack maybe 3 lbs with eggs. so now i have a fish to use on thanksgiving and some fine dining for a couple nights!

I think that you are the 'lucky charm' of salmon. Nothing for me for 3 weeks until I fished next to you last Friday. Where is your next stop?!

rethink which person were you? i'm hardly a lucky charm. i was also on a 3 week skunk. i doubled my career coho intake in one day and the chum was the second ever caught, first to be able to keep. i'll probably be someplace on the green later this week. hard to leave a good hole but would be nice to have alternative places to stop. be nice if i could catch em way further downstream closer to my house tho.

Hey Hepker,
We met briefly at the Wallace hatchery. Your now famous li:ne: "Isn't that cheating to catch fish there?"
After we left, you took our spot. I hired Nate Treat to be my guide that day.
He taught me some nice skills that day, but I have not hit the river since.

Currently, I am in Minnesota. I guess if I was serious about my fishing, I would jump out on the ice frozen lakes, cut a hole and toss in my line. I hear the fishing here is excellent, because the mosquitoes are big and numerous, once the snow melts. Must be walleye in them ponds. I plan to take the Steelhead seminar at 3 rivers marine in Woodinville on Dec 7th. I am waiting out the Chum. I caught way too many zombie pinks, and the chum don't look much better. Steelhead, however do wet my appetite for fishing. Not sure the regulations and rivers to catch and keep. we should meet up sometime, and say goodbye to the skunks and hello to the steelies! Cheers, Larry

Not trying to be negative, but..... The fish pictured on the right looks like a chinook to me with the black gums/tongue. Doesn't appear to have a spotted tail however, so I can't say for sure either way. If unsure of the identification of species always refer to your fishing regulations pamphlet, as opposed to what fellow fisherman advise. Chinook salmon are listed as an endangered species, and are illegal to retain throughout the green/duwamish system. Any person caught with one of these fish can see jail time, thousands in fees, confiscation of gear/vehicles, and revocation of license privileges. Not harking on you in particular; just a reminder for all those who utilize this fantastic waterway. Tight lines and great luck!

sorry, I have to disagree, those are clearly white gum lines on both fish. I think you're confusing the inside of the mouth vs. the gum line which is white.
