Been down to the Satsop a handful of times this year and have had some pretty good luck (4 coho and 1 coho jack), but not for a few weeks without the rain and the river being low and clear. Went back out this morning with my best friend and my brother-in-law looking for a couple last chromers. Right away I got one on my pink and black jig but was quite red so I popped out the hooked and off he swam. couple casts later another one nails my jig and i see a huge chrome flash out in front of me and the jig flies right back at me. Same happens again with a much smaller fish (still very bright). Then i hook about a 6lb beautiful chrome buck (one pictured) that my brother nets for me! Great little fight for a smaller hatchery fish! Later I foul into a chum and when i get it to my feet I realize it has a jig stuck in its side, score, out comes the jig and my brother-in-law put it straight on his line. About 10 minutes later he hooks about a 8lb chrome hen with the jig off the chums side and lands it. His first coho! We all lost multiple other hook ups but had a great day minus the constant rain! Maybe one more try for some chrome on wednesday, but cant wait until the steel starts showing! Tight lines all!
