I fished a hole in south Kent today to practice drifting a slip bobber and bait. Lots of pinks swimming by through the clear waters at my feet. This was only my 2nd time with a bobber and I have a lot to learn. I started by alternating pink roe and cured sand shrimp on a bare hook and did a good job of fattening some fella up about 200 feet downstream in the seam (too much slack to set the hook). After 5 or 6 casts in a row with my bobber down in that same spot (and chewed bait each time), I tried a shrimp tipped yellow and black/red jigs under my bobber, but couldn't get him to take it. I struck out with jig twitching and spinners after that. Next time I think I'll try larger hooks and some magic thread to hold the bait better.
