Melanie and I spent our last day fishing this week for salmon, we each caught a jack, mine was an 18 or 19 inch king, fought unbelievably well, 3or 4 vertical leaps clear out of the water and 4 or 5 blistering runs every time it saw a net. Tomorrows' dinner! Melanie caght a smaller coho jack about 2 lbs. Had 2 monster takedowns, heartstoppers but dropped off as rod was pulled from holder, herring gone! 3 drivebys with serious bite marks on bait.Only saw about 5 other fish on stringers (why people drag fish around all day in 58 degree water with seals around is beyond belief! We bleed and ice fish imm., and we drive a glorified canoe!) with major effort, prob. saw 50 boats easy. Not a lot of fish in river this year, by this time last year we had boated 15.Weather is a part, but state sanctioned increased commercial overfishing is the basic problem. Will try again next week but nets are in this weekend.Bob R
