Well, this is my first post on WL :) I had gone the evening before up to the Snohomish and I had a few pinks on but lost them. Was all good with the evening being as beautiful as it was and good company to boot! One was a coho, that was pretty cool. So after getting home after that...I was determined to search out a place to go get a coho. They seemed tougher to find on the sno/sky so I looked south to the Puyallup after seeing some of the posts of pretty good success.
Growing up on the Kenai the sockeye are pretty easy to catch now. But that was all I have been used to. So getting skunked on the Sno(3x) is a humbling experience.
In hopes to boost my success rate I have started to build a smoker, "If you build it, they will come" Right?!
So anyway, back to the report. Thursday morning I made my first attempt on a new river. Got there around 9am and it was pretty quiet...with pinks rising along the shore. So I tried the corky and yarn that showed good results in reports. It was good luck...pinks on and off all morning. I had to tinker with my pull cause some were snagged. Anyway, I managed to find a hen that was looking good and was about to head home. A guy w/his dad that were fishing next to me were heading out and said, "Good luck with a coho!" Not 5 minutes later 2-3 feet off the bank I got a Fish On! It jumped and I saw a bright nice looking pink hen(no hump)! Ooh nice and pulled her onto the bank. I went to pull the hook and looked a long hooked nose. Oh my, it's a coho! I was in disbelief so I sent a picture to a friend to make sure I wasn't seeing things. Yep, all coho! What a day! First Wa. state coho...5 star!
That landed nicely on the BBQ last night!
As for the pink....I built it, they are coming! ;) Workin on the pellicle now
YEAH!

Holy cow...either you're really short, or that fish is freaking big! Did you weigh it?
