Well, fishing on the upper Skagit has been nothing short of amazing. I've been trying to stay away from the Samish as much as possible, and the Skagit has been a blast. We have been hammering 50 to 100 pinks a day, picking out bright ones for the smoker. There are also some beautiful Coho showing up and we are hooking one or two of them a day. Pinks on the twitching Jigs, and Coho on vibrax spinners. An awesome bonus on the upper Skagit, is the by catch of monster fall Chinook. These big boys are protected so handle and release with care if you tie into one. These things are aggressive. We have hit monster fish on Humpy Jigs and Coho Vibrax, and pulling Brads wigglers for Coho have taken a few monster Chinook as well. Last week we landed a fish that taped out at 45 pounds on a humpy jig, a few fish in the high thirties on vibrax, got a 42 lber on a brads wiggler, and, in an attempt to save the best for last...... A behemoth Chinook on a number 4 chartreuse Vibrax that taped out at 46.5 inches long, by 28 inches in girth. The salmon weight calculator puts this fish at 49.93 pounds. A 50 pound monster. The Colo will start to show up in greater numbers soon, and I have some prime dates for Coho late September and early October. Give me a call and check out the pictures below!
