My son and I started out around 6am , hoping to catch a break in the weather. Started off the south end with a dodger and a green spinner I had made specially for the lake. Tipped it with a piece of nightcrawler and within a few minutes my son had his first fish on. And within a few seconds he lost his first fish. The fish in the lake were much harder fighters than plants from other lakes in the area. Anyway lesson learned. He loosened his drag and continued on , not a bit concerned about losing his first fish. Continued up the west side of the lake with the lime green spinner ( double blade ) and a small dodger we continued, at various speeds ( between 1.0 and 1.5 mph ), changing as we went and running small s shaped patterns. Trolling with a small piece of lead and in about 19 to 23 feet,we managed to have our limits by 9am. We only took home 5 smaller plants to let the next kid enjoy what we did. Left around 10 am. One small suggestion. There is no designated area to fish from the boat launch and personally I do not mind. But please be courteous both fishermen and boaters. Its suppose to be fun and exciting, especailly for the kids. Lets try and keep it that way please. Good trip, will try again on Monday.
Take a kid fishing..........
