This is my first time reporting to this website. I have followed it from the start of this year and like the layout. Therefore, I figure I should catch some fish and make a report!

Only Problem; The Nisqually River is not listed in the river section to make a report about. (So I chose the puyallup)

To the report!

So I got to the river about 530 this morning and rigged up after my hike down the jblm side of the river. After my third cast of the morning and about a 12-15 minute fight, I was marking my catch card with a 19lb hatch king(Buck) and taking a short break. about 630 I hooked into something small, probably a pink or a jack that shook itself off the hook after a minute or so. Then at 7:10 I hooked into a beautiful 16lb hatch king (Hen) 15 min later she was landed and I was on my way back to my truck before 730. A Great day fishing (for an hour) by myself! I generally choose to use between 10 and 14 lb test to those who think 15 minutes is a long time got a 15-20lb King LOL. Great to get some kings on the card! Good Luck all and Tight lines!!!

Editors Note: I replied to your request to add the Nisqually. It is there, in Thurston County.

Thanks for sharing! This is my first time on this site, and I've never fished at Nisqually. Was hoping to try my luck there this weekend. Could you share some tips regarding how far down river you went from the exit 116 bridge (I'm assuming you started there)? Any insight you can provide would be much appreciated!

I went quite a ways down the river and you need a range permit to be on the military side of the river. Probably about 2 miles or more toward the mouth. You dont need to go that far to catch fish I just go that far to fish in peace. Good luck.

How can you tell which is the military side of the river...are there any signs posted? I'd love to try this river out but I don't want to be shoulder to shoulder with the circus. I don't mind hiking out a ways. Also where is the best place to park?

If you look on a map it is clear which side is the military side of the river. I guess it would be the east side of the river. There is no "best" place to park unless you are military or have your range permit to park on the military side.
