Hit the Puyallup River this morning at 5am. Was under the 5th street bridge. Lots of guys and gals up and down the line. Fished from 5am to 10am and it was DEAD! Saw 2 fish caught in 5 hours. 1 pink and 1 chinook. Chinook was definitely 15 pounds or better, and it was a hatchery fish.
This was my first time salmon fishing so I was talking with the more experienced anglers around me. They all agreed that the main run hasn't started yet and the fish must still be holding in the saltwater. A few fish are running here and there, but nothing like it will be in about a week (by their estimation). They all thought by next weekend, it should be a different story and everyone should be limiting out very quickly. I hope so...
I'll be back out there next Saturday morning!
