headed down to the slough for an hour of water cool down time (the house is about 90 so i had to escape). i am glad i made the trip i decided to take the lazy way today and continue using the set up from Pass Lake last night, sinking like and a brown bead head wolley bugger. fishing was slow and i wasent expecting much because of the rain the water was about a foot higher and filled with crap and weeds floating down the river. then all of sudden mid drift my line went taught and i set the hook. expecting a pike minnow and an easy reel in i was plugging away when the fish started on a run! went up the river about 30ft then back, i played it for a solid 5 minutes and brought it in. what a beautiful fish. it was between 12"14" but i have never seen a rainbow has wide it had to have been 2.5" wide it was a fatty. i left shortly after that. i had a few bites but i was being disctracted by my photographer AKA girlfriend.

That is a hard fighting "pike minnow"......LOL! Nice trout. Has been too many years since I last visited the Sam Slough. What are the reg's for that part of the slough? Can trout be kept?

thats the best part of the Sam, it is catch and release, single barbless... the fish are there. unfortunatly so are other people with worms and power bait but usually they leave if you tell them whats up.

my buddy left his underwater camera at my house so we took it. it was really comical watching my girlfriend leaning forward in the water taking as many pictures as possible chasing the fish around. we managed this one clear picture of the 20 or so she took

I just noticed how different that part of the slough looks, as compared to the stained slow water, between Woodinville and lake Wa. Also that your fish had white tips on the fins. How close to Lake Samammish are you before the Slough water clears and becomes wadeable?
