After 2 weeks of threatening to go fishing I finally was able to execute that threat.
It was mid Sunday afternoon - I figured much of the bite was done but I HAD to get out. The morning rains had tappered off, and the wind was doing the same.
When I arrived the dock was full but I found a spot. First cast using spring green power bait resulted in the tug on the line, however the jerk on the line (ME) wasn't able to set the hook. This pattern repeated itself 3 more times before I landed my first fish.
Within an 45 minutes period I will land 2 and lose 4. An hour later I will land my 3rd fish, all of 14 inches. Those still on the dock begin asking what I am using for bait as I was one of the few getting strikes at the time.
I know from experience that this lake and lady luck can become rather finicky. What works one minute suddenly stops working or the fish schools move to the other side of the dock.
The third fish would be my last for the day. But I didn't care. I was able to go fishing and for a day I am able forget about my problems and not drown in the rain.
