OK,, this is a few days over due. I've had my cornputer in the shop, etc.
I had a really fun day this past Sunday. I picked up my new 3wt fly rod from the fly shop in Cle Elum. Props to Tyler at the Cle Elum fly shop. I was all set on a fancy Winston fly rod... however they set me up with what they thought was just fine, an Echo Carbon 3 wt.
I headed up to the Cooper River in the area above Lake Cle Elum. I don't want to be to specific because another very nice member on here gave directions to a few really sweet holes. Thanks Jumpinjim!
I did find your spots. Wow! that was some beautiful water. I only wish I had someone with me to witness the beauty.
Fished the Cooper river nymphing with a dropper. Only had a few little strikes, very small fish I'm sure. Nothing to the my hand. I didn't put a lot of time in on this area just because it was a little awkward with deep canyon walls, etc. And I got the itch for other nearby areas that I new had previously produced. I will hit this again though.
Sorry, maybe I shouldn't have even reported on that water. Anyway... Cooper River is some sweet looking water. I would recommend any of it for a nice time out.
I then moved down to the Lower Cle Elum river. Report to follow.
