First report for me, just had to share this as it is something that will last with me forever.

Fished the Nisqually Monday afternoon. About a dozen trips their this year so far, with only a couple 10-12 lb kings, and a few small coho that were to small to be harvested, taken at the bridge on the main road by the military access. Fished float/eggs, corkies/yarn, and had a few hookups here and there.

Today however was awesome, and I didn't even bring anything home. And yes this is going to sound like one of those "fish tales" but I had plenty of witnesses, who actually had a better view of that fish than I did.

Decided to try plunking, and glad I did. Using a spin-n-glow/eggs, I hooked into something very big, and very unwilling to cooperate. At first it was a few hard tugs, and "fish on". Next thing I knew my line was feeding out as it headed down river. Tried to thumb the spool to slow it down a bit, but not a chance. It just kept going, and going, clearing the water several times about 40-50 yards down from me. Knew it was game over when it got to the log jam, and it came up one last time and, unfortunately, it spit the hook. Thankfully before it went into the logs, however, and I kept my tackle.

Can only guess at how big it was because it was so far away when I finally saw it, but I would have to say 25-30 lbs, and chrome as can be.

Rated this a "5" as it was an awesome experience. Even though I didn't catch anything to bring home, I caught a great memory of fishing the rivers for the first time this year. If that first king I caught a couple weeks ago didn't have me addicted, this surely did!

I had once a king at Samish river running to the bridge and I had to put a lot of pressure for it to stop. Luckily it stopped and started running straight to me, I never reeled so fast... yeah, I do know the adrenaline rush you are talking... and yes, I did bonk that fish after some 15 minutes battle.

What size and color spin-n-glow were you using? I was also thinking about plunking there but wasn't sure what to use..
