Arrived at 112th bright and early this morning and had my line in the water when it was still dark (this was about 6:25). Overall went 2/4 today. Left around 8:45.

Had my first hit on a #3 blue fox with a UV hoochie. I would hit it with my light, then throw it out. Unfortunately I lost my footing when I thought it was time to retreat to the bank to finally haul it in. I fell completely in the river leaving only my rod hand held out as I fell in, haha. Of course, when I stood back up I was greeted with a slack line. The only upside was nobody was there yet to witness this. The guys upstream/downstream of me probably thought it was just another fishing jumping.

When the light came out, the tide went slack and there was no current. By about that time started filing down to the bank. No current had me switching to a spoon, which I was jigging on the retrieve. Had a good hit and hauled in a nice size hen.

When the current picked up, I switched up to a drift set up and had a couple more hits, 1 of which I landed. The second hit came almost near shore. I thought I had just caught up on a rock, then next thing I know line started peeling and pulling, then it was off.

Bite died down after that so my Dad and I decided to pack it up. Cleaned up the fish, harvested the eggs (sorely needed by the way), and was on my home by 9:00am. Great morning!

I saw you down there when I drove by on hwy 599 and pulled off to check the tide but like a fool, headed up to the Skykomish just to have tons of fish rolling and laughing at us all by the Sultan river. Even the drift boats got skunked! Should have stayed closer to home. So you fished the incoming tide, huh? Sorry to hear about you falling in; been there, done that! not fun- Nice fish!!

The fish were rolling big time down there this morning. I stopped by at about 6:30 and saw you down there. I had never been to that spot before and didn't know the terrain and such. I'll be there tomorrow for sure!

@Alex I'm still trying to figure out the parking thing there... I parked on the side of the highway, but I'm worried I could be towed as there are signs there saying no parking/tow zone....however, there were other people parking there, so I don't know if or how often that happens. I noticed a few guys hiking down the highway to that part of the bank, so perhaps they are parking at the park at the west side of the walking bridge, but I don't know where they are getting over to the highway as there is a fence running between the park and highway as far as I can see....maybe someone can tell me/us how to handle that?

@salmonberry Yep, fished the incoming tide. I just have to wait for the river reverse directions and pick up enough so I can drift gear. Otherwise, not sure how I would I fish the incoming tide. I will add that the bite died pretty quick once the sun started coming up..

I will also add that there were about 10 guys fishing this spot as well, and other than the hits I had, only one other guy had fish on (came unbottoned), so it wasn't really "lights out" there. I think I just seemed to hit the tide right and made the rights change ups in gear/presentation through out the morning. Trust me, there have been many mornings I have hit that part of the river with nothing to show for it :-)

Nice work BK. Falling in the river while fishing sucks, but having fish at the end of the day sure does seem to make it better!!!
