I had a chance to drop down and fish abit on the Yakima river by prosser today after a doctor's appointment. I was greeted by a surreal morning of solace as I approached the rivers edge. The recent rain squalls hadn't clouded up the rive at all so my confidence soared as I prepared to cast a 3" smoke Kalin's Grub into a fishy looking riffle on the pool. That grub didn't last long as a solid hit tore off the tail. I picked up my other rod and rigged up a GerMin Custom Lures Matador Sculpin jig. I no sooner started my drift when a big, broad shouldered smallmouth smacked my jig and cartwheeled out of the water! The entire morning was like this, fast and frentic hits that were more like a "ker-thunk!" type tap, indicative of a school of maurading, demon eyed smallies on the prowl. All told I had caught and released 23 bronzebacks betwen 3/4 lb to a beautiful dark green 3 pound plus male that took me for a ride in the rapids. Can't wait to go back! Jiggy
