Got to Skagit near Burlington this morning about 8am, fished for 3 hours. River was up, water had good color, not muddy at all. Fished with a smaller orange, black striped spin n glo, the one they call the tiger. Had white wings, and I used a black sharpie to color one of the wings. Put on a sand shrimp and no scent, cast out no more than 15 feet. 4oz triangle weight, with about 8" to swivel. 3 ft leader. Landed a nice ~6 lb hen, 24" long. Typical of the Sockeye, this fish tapped lightly, and luckily for me, the line went slack so the fish was carrying away. This one wouldn't get off; swallowed the presentation. Made a couple nice runs, and special thanks to the guy next to me for netting, despite the pulled calf muscle. This was 30 minutes into the day. An hour or so later, had another toying, not so lucky this time...impatience wins again.

I fished last Wednesday in the afternoon at I believe Young's bar (other side of Edgewater Park.) It was shoulder to shoulder there... I fished from 4:30 - 8:00 and I didn't see one person get a bite. I was using a spin n' glo set up, red with tiger stripes, sand shrimp, 4oz. weight... Where near Burlington were you fishing from?

The fishing area is along the soccer fields. Also, I've seen fish caught along either side of the river, the main thing is to be real close to the bank.
