Its been awile since ive posted a report! So i went down to the Sammamish River to fly fish and try and get my first fish on a fly rod!So i get out there and wade in without any waders because it was like 75 degrees and i start off with a dry fly and dont catch anything but there was a guy tsath24 i think is his name and i asked him for some tips and he said make my leader longer. so i did and he gives me a prince nymph dry fly with a bead head and i fish it the way he is and i start reeling in after my float was done and i feel some tension on my line so i set the hook and my line goes all slack and wraps around my rod so i thought i lost the fish! I reel in and its still there so i bring it up and its a nice 6 inch cutthroat! I caught 2 more doing the same thing! Big thanks to tsath24 for helping me out!! Hope to see you out there some time again! Also tsath24 or anyone does the prince nymph work all summer and spring? Thanks! Also i made this a 5 because i caught my first 3 fish on a fly rod sorry there is no pics i didnt have my camera:(

Hey! Haha I was wondering when I would meet someone from this site. I'm glad that you got experience your first fish on your fly rod, congratulations! I'll be out there again tomorrow after 4PM. My name is Thomas by the way. As for using nymphs, they should be productive throughout the spring/summer. You also may want to experiment and try different types of wet flies as well. I think later in the summer you can start using dry flies. I myself don't know what flies to use in certain conditions, just have to try and see what works. The guys on this website have been really helpful on tips and hints, that's actually how I hooked into my first. Don't hesitate to ask for more advice.

I will be out there quite often from now until the first Saturday in June. First Saturday of June is when the Skykomish and Snohomish will be open for Summer Steelhead!
