Decided to hit the Cowlitz from the bank at Blue Creek with a fellow retired Boeing friend. The river was running at 11,000 cfs which is high but fishable from the bank. Got there at 6:30 AM and the parking lot was filling up quick. Quite a difference from a few weeks ago on a Monday when there were very few boats and bankies. I guess the other river closings have driven more people to the Cowlitz but we found a spot below the intake and set up shop. We threw jigs mostly but mixed it up with some drift gear throughout the day. Fish were being caught on a regular basis but mostly from the boats in the areas we were fishing. Pretty frustrating because there were fish around but we didn't get any hits and the rain was fairly steady and annoying from 8 AM until we left around 12:30 PM. Oh well, one of those days but we learned some new areas to hit as we wandered around later in the day. Good luck and tight lines!!
