I went back to the Skookumchuck to try my luck again. It was really wet and windy. We started out below the hatchery, saw one guy walk out with a fish. The only other person fishing gave up and left. It was pouring rain and sleet, I guess we were "die hard" steelhead fishermen yesterday. After a few hours we got in the car to warm up a bit. Decided to drive up to the gate and walk the river to see why most everyone fishes up there. We saw lots of fish roll and jump, I couldnt figure out why the fish would be above the hatchery. We went back to the car to grab our gear to give it one last shot at the fish, in the continual rain. Threw different colored jigs at them with only a whitefish biting. Finally right before it got too dark I switched to a pink corkie. Third cast fish on! Brought in a nice 34" hen. Only my second steelhead, and she was beautiful! Caught her on the same colored corkie I caught my first steelhead on.
